Pisa Art Week

Pisa 7 June 2024

On the occasion of the second edition of the Pisa Art Week, art is for everyone, promoted by the cultural association Athena, which will take place from 7 to 9 June 2024, and which will see classical art as the absolute protagonist, the Antonella Scarfone Art Gallery exhibits two unpublished sculptures by Giovanni Balderi at the Arsenali Repubblicani in Pisa, for the entire duration of the event.

Giovanni Balderi (Seravezza 1970) has a constant and open relationship with the sculptors of the past. His personal story has placed him in relation with marble, the noblest of traditional materials. With its origins in the environment of the Apuan marble quarries, Balderi knows it, dominates it in
all its aspects, in its veins, volumes, transparencies. An incessant inspiration comes from its culture and from the atavistic memory of the material.

The second edition of the Pisa Art Week is a journey that starts from the ideal of physical and moral perfection of man, the prerogative of classical Greek culture, up to the present day, with contemporary artists capable of developing their artwork thanks to a profound study of the roots of art.

And it is in honor of this tradition that the gallery inaugurates the new exhibition on Saturday 8 June at 6.30 pm with a vernissage entitled: THE COLORS OF THE EARTH. On display are the sculptures of: Giovanni Balderi, Jana Büttner, Ule Ewelt, Ferruccio Maierna, Olga Prokop, Paolo Staccioli. And the paintings by Allén, Rosso Emerald Crimson, Françoise De Felice, Gennifer Deri, Rossana Borzelli, Kicki Edgren, Angelo Giordano, Filippo Manfroni, Paolo Medici, Carlo Romiti.
