Biography

Michelino Iorizzo was born in Rome in 1971 and after finishing the Art School, in 1993 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

This was followed by a period of private teaching in Italy and abroad, particularly in Oriental Academies (Hubei University, China).

From an initial tale of abstract-figurative landscapes, he continues his artistic research by dedicating himself to female portraits.

Mysterious, sometimes dreamy and melancholic, the faces portrayed by Iorizzo do not actually exist except in his imagination, in the memory of a fleeting encounter or in the artist's most secret dreams. Iorizzo digs into the pictorial material, corrodes the surface, allowing an ancient patina to emerge on each face, which ties it to the past.

Between restlessness and concreteness, the artist's works bring to the fore a vibrant and passionate painting, oscillating between a realistic research and a conscious transformation.

Gifted with a versatile talent that ranges from painting to sculpture, from ceramics to the technique of ancient icons, all of Iorizzo's works tell of his restless and visionary spirit.

Numerous solo and group exhibitions. Some of his works appear in collections and permanent exhibitions of Italian and foreign museums.

They wrote about him: Andrea Romoli Barberini, Berenice, Dacia Maraini, Stefania Severi, Claudio Strinati, Sandro Trotti.
