Paolo Medici

"Forget it," Cagli said in front of my first painting he saw.
It wasn't like that.
At fourteen I ran out of school to meet the Master who in my dreams represented the magic of color, of life.
I studied quickly to be able to hear the words I translated into my signs.
So it was that I looked for my favorite materials in the waxy pastels, in the thin black paper, in the rough surface of the notebooks, in the metal nets, on the skin of the glass or in the wallpaper.
I continued on this path: I worked and experimented until I reached "my way".
And that's how I got to the sea.

Biography

Paolo Medici was born in Rome in 1955 and attended Corrado Cagli's studio as a student, perfecting his painting studies until 1976.
If the technique he prefers is the "frottage" which exploits the rubbing of waxy oil pastels on paper then canvassed, the theme of his works is ancient, sometimes history, sometimes myth, not felt as a dream or nostalgia , but as a certain and determined presence.
Since 1990 he has lived and worked in Bologna
