Andrea Berni
“… a multitude of individuals… different places… different cultures. Yet everyone has a head, two arms, two legs, a brain and a heart."
Phil 3
Calacatta Versilia marble sculptureBiography
Andrea Berni was born in Florence in 1982 where he began his artistic training, attracted by the world of sculpture he moved to Carrara where he graduated in 2006 at the Academy of Fine Arts.
Here he opened his studio together with other artists where he deepens his research by experimenting with past and contemporary techniques, a place of ideas and cultural exchange that has become one of the art spaces of Carrara over the years. He has participated in sculpture exhibitions and symposiums in France, Norway, Lithuania, Lebanon, Germany where he had the opportunity to install public sculptures and establish deep friendships with artists from all over the world.
In his continuous observation of the world and the society that surrounds him, he focuses on some aspects that he encompasses in the "Indifferents" series.
With this he emphasizes the study of the deepest human sensations and emotions. Individuals overwhelmed by stimuli they don't understand, people dissociated from life, in a state of deep and perennial indifference. Individuals made single, with a stolen soul, apathetic, immobilized and prisoners. Deeply nihilistic, devoid of passion, strength and spirit.
Dull beings, defrauded by the passage of time, veiled in spirit by a profound resignation.
He also turns his gaze to the nature that surrounds him and to the deep relationship with the human being. Giving life to the “Natural Inspiration” series.
The beauty of nature, the simplicity of its lines and compositions.
The enchantment of a ray of sunlight that caresses a surface making it luminous and warm.
Complex but at the same time simple, in harmony and balance in the richness of light and dark tones, often barely perceptible in their delicacy, sometimes strong and clear-cut.
Softness and rigidity generate a healthy and continuous desire for observation, an inexhaustible source of curiosity and love.
